Job Summary:
The Video Journalist is responsible for capturing, editing, and producing high-quality video content for news and media platforms. This role entails conducting interviews, reporting on events, and presenting accurate and engaging news stories through video format. The Video Journalist will collaborate with the news team to gather pertinent information, research topics, and ensure the delivery of compelling visual content to the audience.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Shoot video footage of news events, interviews, and other relevant subjects using professional camera equipment.
2. Edit video content using industry-standard software to create visually appealing and informative news stories.
3. Conduct thorough research to gather accurate information, verify facts, and present credible news stories.
4. Collaborate with the news team to identify and cover breaking news, events, and feature stories.
5. Write scripts and voice-over narration for video content, adhering to journalistic standards and editorial guidelines.
6. Ensure video content meets quality and technical standards for broadcasting on various platforms.
7. Deploy mobile journalism techniques to capture and report news stories in real-time.
8. Conduct interviews with individuals, experts, and public figures, ensuring professionalism and respect.
9. Stay updated with current events, industry trends, and emerging technologies related to video journalism.
10. Collaborate with the production team to develop visually appealing graphics, animations, and visual effects for video content.
11. Adhere to ethical standards and guidelines while reporting news and handling sensitive information.
12. Maintain video equipment, including cameras, microphones, lighting, and editing software, ensuring they are in proper working condition.
13. Meet strict deadlines for news stories, ensuring timely delivery of video content.
14. Collaborate with social media teams to promote and distribute video content on relevant digital platforms.
15. Attend press conferences, events, and public gatherings to capture news coverage as required.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communication, or a related field.
2. Proven work experience as a Video Journalist or similar role, preferably in a news organization or media outlet.
3. Strong proficiency in video shooting, editing, and production techniques.
4. Proficient in using professional video editing software, such as Adobe Premiere Pro or Final Cut Pro.
5. In-depth knowledge of journalistic principles, ethics, and standards.
6. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
7. Ability to conduct interviews and gather information effectively.
8. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in reporting.
9. Familiarity with mobile journalism techniques and tools.
10. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
11. Knowledge of social media platforms and their use in disseminating news content.
